INSURANCE LAW

Insurance law is a sub-branch of commercial law that deals with agreements where the insurer undertakes to compensate for the material loss of the insured in the event of a risk incurring, in return for a premium, or to pay money or make other transactions depending on the life span of one or more persons or certain events in their lives, and the rights and obligations arising from these agreements.

Legal regulations regarding insurance law are found in the Insurance Law numbered 5684 and the Turkish Commercial Code numbered 6102. Within the scope of insurance law, there are institutions and individuals such as insurance companies, reinsurance companies, insurance agents, insurance brokers, actuaries, insurance experts, insurance arbitration commissions. Disputes arising from insurance law are resolved in the competent court or insurance arbitration commission specified in the insurance agreement. Insurance arbitration commission is an alternative dispute resolution method established for the quick, cheap and expert resolution of disputes arising from insurance agreements.
